Groundbreaking Ceremony of Walmart Supercenter on Cascade Road Scheduled for Monday, October 15

Opening of Supercenter Will Provide Jobs and Economic Boost to Fulton County

The new Walmart Supercenter at Cascade Road in Southwest Atlanta will bring the convenience of affordably-priced, quality products and groceries to this growing community of businesses and homes. The store will employ approximately 300 full- and part-time associates.

The Supercenter will be developed on a site formerly occupied by a major home improvement chain and constructed in compliance with zoning requirements. It will incorporate design and architecture that reflect neighborhood standards that meet the City of Atlanta and Fulton County’s site building standards.

An aesthetically-appealing streetscape will be developed along Research Center Atlanta Drive. The planned design and architecture are in accordance with neighborhood standards established by the Cascade Overlay and will exceed several requirements, including expansive trees and plantings, and no outdoor storage and sales.

WHO: Local elected officials and regional Walmart representatives will host the ceremony. Also in attendance will be civic/business leaders, neighborhood associations/groups and more.

WHEN: Monday, October 15, 2012 at 9 am.

WHERE: Walmart Supercenter site at 1105 Research Center Atlanta Drive, Atlanta.

Will there be a permanent exit on Fairburn RD as well? I do not think Fairburn can handle the extra traffic.

No Fairburn can't handle this extra traffic!

However aesthetically pleasing the streetscape will be, the traffic will be a huge burden that Cascade Rd. probably cannot handle. Fairburn Rd. definitely can't handle delays due to a school bus stopping, much less WalMart traffic. I am one disappointed resident, as the residents did NOT want WalMart. Too bad our elected officials only care about the $$$.
