Jackmont Hospitality’s T.G.I. Friday’s Restaurants to Host 'World Bartending Championship’: Proceeds to Benefit the Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation

Jackmont Hospitality, a full service foodservice company headquartered in Atlanta, is hosting a series of exciting bartending competitions at their T.G.I. Friday’s locations
in search of the World Bartender Champion. This month “T.G.I. Friday’s World Bartender Championship,” will host the franchise’s semi-finals in two regional competitions – the Northeast Competition being held on Monday, September 24th at the T.G.I. Friday’s in Greenbelt, MD, and the Southeast Competition being held on Wednesday, September 26th at the T.G.I. Friday’s located at Camp  Creek Market Place in Atlanta.  The finalists will then compete at the franchise championship competition on Wednesday, October 10th at the T.G.I. Friday’s at Camp Creek.

In addition to celebrating the top bartenders from each of the restaurants, the purpose of the World Bartender Championship is to bring attention to a worthy
organization that has strong and deep roots in the community while raising funds to support their continued efforts. For the 2012 event, T.G.I. Friday’s has selected the Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation (MJYF) (www.mjyf.org) as its franchise charity of choice. Proceeds from the championship events will benefit the mission and work of MJYF.

Founded in 1992 by the late Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson, the Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation (MJYF) has helped train hundreds of young people to become leaders
for tomorrow. MJYF has positively impacted the lives of youth through its signature program, the MJYF Leadership Academy. Participating high school students learn skills and principles of leadership, critical thinking, entrepreneurship, community service, and how to prepare for their continued education and careers.

The vision of the World Bartending Championship event is to show the world that our T.G.I. Friday’s restaurants have the best bars, with the best-in- class bartenders, and the best drinks in the industry,” said Director of Operations David Sylvester of Jackmont Hospitality. “Our bartenders are an integral part of our business as they instigate the energy within our bars and for our guests. We hope the championship will help celebrate each bartender that wears the T.G.I. Friday’s Stripes and help the Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation continue to ‘build a foundation for the future’.”

The fun and exciting bartending competition events are open to the public. Guests can make a contribution for a seat at the bar or a bar area table. Prizes will be raffled at the competitions.
