FIRST GLOBAL GLORY CELEBRATION OF CHRIST BY CULTURES
Zion Hill Baptist Church will host its first ever “Global Glory” celebration of the Christian faith by cultures from around the world, Sunday April 29, 2012 at 5 p.m. in the Zion Hill sanctuary. Nigerian scholar and evangelist, Bishop Adonijah Ogbonnaya, Ph.D., known as “Dr. O”, will be the guest preacher. Several churches from the metro Atlanta representing various denominations and countries have been invited to come together in worship with singing, dancing, drumming and messages in the different languages of participating cultures. It will be the community of faith raising voices together in a demonstration of unity in God. The public is invited to share in this unique and powerful worship experience.
The guest preacher, Dr. Ogbonnaya, is the senior pastor of Venice United Methodist Church in California and the innovative leader of Kingdom-Minded Ministry. He is a Hebrew born native of Nigeria, West Africa who received the call to ministry at a very early age and preached
his first sermon at age 12. Dr. Ogbonnaya earned the B.A. degree in Religion at Hillcrest Christian College in
Canada. He holds the Masters of Theology and Personality the Masters in Religion, and the Doctor of Philosophy from Claremont School of Theology and completed the Masters of Arts in Theological Studies at Western Evangelical Seminary. He is an ordained Bishop in the Church of God in Cleveland, was Senior Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of the UMI Christian Publishing Corporation and has held faculty positions at Antioch University, United Theological Seminary, the Ecumenical Center for Black Church Studies, and Laverne University in California.
Ogbonnaya has been a missionary and pastor in Northern
Nigeria among Muslim communities where he evangelized and planted churches for several years before coming to North America. While in North America these past 26 years, Dr. “O” has also travelled and ministered in over 25 nations including Asia, Africa, Europe and North America with the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
and has seen lives transformed and minds renewed. His work reaches across the globe to disciple, train, and equip others for effective faith leadership. He is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and in 2004, was consecrated Bishop by the Church of God. Currently, in addition to his evangelistic ministry, God is using him
to rebuild and replant a United Methodist Church in Venice, California (re-digging the wells of John Wesley).
Dr. “O”s invitation to preach and Zion Hill’s Global Glory worship experience are resultant of Godly inspiration and the recognition of an expanding intercultural relationship between Zion Hill and others in the faith community.
According to Rev. Aaron L. Parker, Ph.D., pastor of Zion Hill, “As we have reached out with aid to brothers and sisters of other cultures and in other parts of the world, we are reminded that what unites us is our faith”. In addition, the Zion Hill Church family has experienced exponential growth since moving a year ago to 6175 Campbellton Road, welcoming new members from other backgrounds and ethnicities–Africans, West Indians,
Latinos–all uniting in one spirit notwithstanding the different influences from across the globe and converging in the glory of unity in praise and worship at Zion Hill.
