- Name: African Shields: Protection, Prestige, Progression
- Occasion: Zion Hill Rites of Passage Program
While the Annual Rites of Passage Program at Zion Hill Baptist Church touts the orchestration and spectacle of a Broadway production, the real excitement derives from the proud family members and friends that gather to applaud the achievement of the participating youth. The 2011 Class of Oukumo with the theme, African Shields: Protection, Prestige, Progression will graduate at total of 46 students, ages 13 to 18. This marks the 17thyear for this Zion Hill Youth Ministry Program that has graduated over 375 youth since its inception in 1994. However, it will be the first time for Zion Hill youth to symbolically crossover from youth to adulthood at “The Rock”, which refers to the new church location at 6175 Campbellton Road, SW, Atlanta. The public is invited to witness and share in the Oukumo: African Shields: Protection, Prestige, Progression, Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 6 p.m. Admission is FREE and plenty of parking is available.

I concur wholeheartedly with Jane. I have had grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in this program. All children should have access to this program. Keep up the good work, Dr. Parker and Mrs Parker.
