Two Atlanta Tech students awarded Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Scholarships for the spring
The Board of Trustees of the Atlanta Technical College Foundation is pleased to announce that two Atlanta Technical College students, Kissie Jackson and Shamar Parks, have been awarded Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation 4 for 4 scholarships for the spring 2013 semester. Jackson, a business management major and Parks, a bioscience technology major, will each receive $667.00 to assist with college expenses including, but not limited to tuition, fees, books, tools or program uniforms.
The scholarships are made possible by The Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation and reflect the desires of founders, Hank and Billye Aaron, to encourage and reward academic achievement. In addition to demonstrating high scholastic aptitude, applicants had to submit an essay explaining why they should receive the scholarship and how it will aid them in completing a technical education.
The Hank Aaron Foundation endowed the “4 for 4 Scholarship” in July 2012. It marks the fourteenth scholarship established by The Chasing the Dream Foundation and the first scholarship given to a technical college. The endowed scholarship represents the latest installment in the seventeen-year-old Foundation which the Aarons started to give back to the children they believed deserved to be able to chase their dreams. The inaugural winners of the Atlanta Technical College award, Veronica Bass, a marketing management student, and Clayton Foxx, a heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning student, received scholarships fall 2012.
