APD to Conduct Lakewood Ave. Canvassing on Wednesday to Help Solve Recent Murder
The Homicide Unit is conducting a Tactical Community Canvass regarding the homicide of 18 year-old Joshua Watson
On Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 4:00 PM, The Homicide Unit is conducting a Tactical Community Canvass regarding the homicide of 18 year-old Joshua Watson which occurred at 2869 Lakewood Avenue near Sylvan Hills on 12/24/2012.
Mr. Watson was found shot to death in the Family Dollar parking lot just before midnight on 12/24/2012.
The following units will participate in the canvass: Zone 3 FIT/CID, Gangs Unit, C.O.P. S. Unit, Crime Stoppers Unit, Motors Unit, Mounted Patrol and Homicide Unit.
The Atlanta Police Department is proud of the success that neighborhood canvassing has provided them in the past. According to the department, "these Tactical Community Canvasses have had a significant impact on helping to develop information in past homicide cases. Since the first canvass in January, 2011, 16 perpetrators have been arrested."
