Atlanta Obituary: Longtime Southwest Atlanta High School Coach has Passed Away
Robert 'Coach' Sidney Greer, age 84, of Atlanta, GA.

Robert 'Coach' Sidney Greer, age 84, of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Douglasville, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012. He was born December 19, 1927 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Edgar Smith and Elizabeth Coogler Greer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Greer.
Mr. Greer was a Veteran of the US Air Force, a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Masters degree in Education, also lettered in football at UGA for 3 years in 1948, 1949, 1950, and was a member of the Ben Hill Masonic Lodge #674. Mr. Greer taught school at Southwest Atlanta High School from 1954 to 1970 and he coached and won the city championship in 1966. He was a construction contractor with Greer & Rolling Contracting and was a member of Midway United Methodist Church.
He is survived by three daughters; three grandchildren; three special friends, Rachael Godfrey, Clara Crane and Mike Mathis; sister-in-law, Beth Greer of Alabama; and a host of friends. T
