AU Students Issue Call To Attend Monday's Martin Rally
Clark Atlanta is also planning their own event for later this week.
Student groups from Clark Atlanta University and other colleges within the Atlanta University Center Consortium are calling for big numbers to attend Monday afternoon's rally for Treyvon Martin at the state capitol.
The Clark Atlanta Student Government Association tweeted this morning""#CAU let's show up in numbers TODAY for the "I am Trayvon Martin" March & Rally. Rally starts at 5:30pm @ the GA State Capital."
Another tweet from Roland S. Martin said "@rolandsmartin The Atlanta University Center will be marching to the city capital Monday for #TrayvonMartin at 5:30."
Clark Atlanta students are also planning a rally of their own on Wednesday, March 28, at 4 pm, in the University Quadangle. Atlanta City Councilman Michael Julian Bond, WAOK-AM radio host Derrick Boazman, and others are scheduled to attend.
Martin, who was unarmed, was shot and killed by neighborhood watch captain, George Zimmerman, in his subdivision as he returned home from purchasing Skittles on Feb. 26.
Zimmerman has not been charged, and said he shot Martin in self-defense.
