Cascade United Methodist Church will celebrate Black History Month with a special storytime event on Saturday.

Rev. Dr. Marvin A. Moss, Senior Pastor, invites the public to join the Children’s and Torchbearers Ministries for book readings, show and tell, music, and arts & crafts each Saturday in February.  The storytime is open to children from infants through age nine.

The event runs 1-3 p.m., and this Saturday's feature is "Sit-in: How Four Friends Stood Up by Sitting Down" by Brian Pinkney. To reserve a space, contact: childrensministry.cumc@gmail.com

Nsoromma School and the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History, will present Africans, African Americans & Mathematical Excellence! at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The  free workshop is designed for educators and parents who are homeschooling their children.

The program will discuss African and African American mathematical geniuses as well as ways that mathematics is used in various African cultures. It will also include activities that teachers and parents can use to instruct children about this history as well as mathematical concepts and skills. For more details, email info@nsoromma.org

EMC² and Councilman C.T. Martin will host the Eyes on the Prize kick off event at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mays High School.

The event is one of a 6-part Black History Month Series devoted to screening the PBS series Eyes on the Prize - America's Civil Rights Movement. After each viewing, a panel of civil rights veterans will entertain questions from the students and community about their personal civil rights experiences.
