Michael Johnson says the time is now for a change in the United States Congress, and he is attempting to make that change by winning the District 5 seat from Rep. John Lewis.

Michael was born here in the 5th district on June 21, 1968, to Miller Johnson, Jr. and Charlotte Mize Johnson. His father graduated from Turner High School and Morehouse College and his mother graduated from Howard High School and Spelman College.

Mr. Johnson says that he looks forward to working with the President to lower unemployment and foreclosure rates, which are both high in District 5, as well as finding a solution to keep social security available and viable.

Michael Johnson says it is time for a changing of the guard, as he competes for Rep. John Lewis' seat. I do not know if I am ready to see Mr. Lewis go yet, but I agree that it is time for Congress to change and even for the "legendary Civil Rights leaders" to pass the torch and put some young people in power.

John Lewis has been an excellent congressman for the 5th district, and he his work has been impeccable. I do, however, believe that it is time for a younger stronge minded indivisual to the 5th district ,and the 35th district as well. It is time for change. New ideas and thet will only come throught younger minds and strategies, that fits the 21st century.

I really see Michael Johnson as the future, and I believe that he will represent Georgia 5th Congressional District well, but since he attended Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 883's Monthly Membership Meeting on July 7, 2012, listened and spoke to Veterans, and has not yet included the mention of Veterans and our issues in his Campaign adds, I can't right now say that I can vote for him either! Veterans need the VA Overhauled, and we need to hear that from the mouth and heart of the person who will get our vote, and they need to back this up with a public promise to introduce an emergency Bill to Overhaul the VA. Congressman John Lewis has not made such a promise, nor fashion a Bill to do so since he is the setting Congressman for the U.S District. Of course, he will be given this opportunity come Monday, July 30th 2012, between 6pm and 8:30pm, at Omega Holiness Church, 621 Memorial Dr. SE, Atlanta, GA 30312. This is the "Teach-In & Prayer Vigil," and the Power of Veterans Movement's performance. Open to the public! Michael Johnson included...
