Female Clark Atlanta Student Robbed at Gunpoint on Campus

Police search for a group of men who robbed a young woman on CAU's campus Tuesday night.

WSB-TV reported late last night that dozen of Atlanta Police officers were canvassing the area around the AUC and specifically Clark Atlanta University looking for information on a group of young men who robbed a young female student at gunpoint.

According to multiple reports including from Channel 2, the student said that "a group of four young men approached her, and when they got close, she saw the men were wearing ski masks and one of them had on a bandanna, one of the men pointed a gun at the side of her head and told her to hand over her stuff or he would shoot her."

Alexis Jones-Rhodes is understandably shaken up and even thinking of returning home and leaving Clark Atlanta University.  Campus police immediately informed APD and within minutes, more police presence was on campus as officers began searching for these violent criminals who armed-robbed the group of female students.

The young woman lives in the Heritage Commons dormitory, and her mother has been quoted as saying that the school needs to do more to protect its students.

In the past few years, there has been a major uptick in thefts on the urban campuses of Georgia Tech and Georgia State University, which has led to a major crack-down and beefed up police presence.  The AUC has not seen as many robberies as years passed, as the City has torn down many of the projects that once surrounded the school system.  But just steps away, near West End Mall, theft by taking and crime still remains high.

Atlanta Police and campus security are going to have to work diligently together to make sure that there is not an increase of crime coming to the actual campus itself, and to make sure that criminals are not getting pushed out of GA Tech and GSU campuses, just to wreak havoc on AUC students.

Cascade Patch will have more on AUC security in the coming days.

One answer is to get rid of the college campus "Gun Free Zone" in GA law. The criminals know about this and have zero fear that someone might be able to resist being robbed or raped. To the criminal a college campus is a "Victim Enrichment Zone."

What makes you believe that they will honor that? They have shown they care not for law.

They are criminals, they will break any law they want.

Remove the silly "Gun Free Zone" and let the law-abiding defend themselves.

I agree with but I don't think a thugg would want to go back to jail for being in a city that hes ban from.I just can't see the reason a kid have to carry a gun to go to school. On the other hand I could see kids going to school knowing that alot of fools is ban from there city state.
Just my thinking.

I don't think anyone can ban someone from a city. Plus in Fluton county the prison is full of repeat offenders.

I'm not talking about kids, I'm talking about responsible 21 year olds with a license. I'm suggesting to lift the ban(gun free zone) so the criminal might think twice about robbing/raping someone on campus.
