Former Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy star, Dwight Howard, Headed to Los Angeles Lakers
Reports suggest that LA Lakers could make a deal to acquire Dwight Howard.
Probably the biggest basketball star that Atlanta has ever raised, Dwight Howard, may soon become a Los Angeles Laker.
For months, the former Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy star has been rumoured to be leaving his Orlando Magic team for a new team. The first suitor was the Brooklyn Nets, but the deal that would see him in NY has fallen through and the Lakers have stepped in.
The All-Star center could be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers as soon as Friday, pending NBA approval of a four-team, eight-player trade also involving Denver and Philadelphia.
The trade would be part of a 4 team trade in which, "Andre Iguodala would be headed to Denver, Andrew Bynum to Philadelphia, and the Magic would receive former Atlanta Hawk Al Harrington, Arron Afflalo, Nikola Vucevic, 76ers No. 1 draft pick Moe Harkless and more draft picks."
Earlier this week, there was some speculation that Howard may be ready for a return to his hometown and play for the Atlanta Hawks. According to rantsports.com, "(Howard) developed into one of the best high school players in recent memory at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, where he averaged 25 points, 18 rebounds, 8 blocks and 3.5 assists and led the team to the Class A state championship during his senior season. Howard was named Georgia’s Mr. Basketball in 2004, and he still spends some time in Atlanta during the off-season and his foundation occasionally holds events in the region."
It now looks like that Atlanta is not in the running to acquire Dwight Howard and pending approval from the NBA, the former Southwest Atlanta star will be a Los Angeles Laker.
