Free Math Tutor Certification Class on Saturday Leads to Paid Opportunities
Saturday at Spelman College, you can get your tutor certification for free and be able to land paid jobs within local schools.
This may be the perfect opportunity for retired teachers, people looking to be mentors, college students or even high school students who are good at grade-level math to earn extra money by tutoring local students. The National Tutoring Association will be holding a free course this Saturday, March 23 from 8am to 4pm at the Spelman College Science Center, Room 134.
According to Kwanza Fisher with Math-Amazing Neighborhoods, now is the time to get your certification and start tutoring because, "tutors will be paid at a rate of $16/hr and this will ONLY be a paid activity if your tutorial selection will be
during the Spring."
The students you will be tutoring are in middle and high school, and will be only at local schools in Southwest Atlanta.
Ms. Fisher says that there are still some spaces available for Saturday's certification class and that a waiting list may develop within the next 24 hours if the class gets full. You can register here, at the Math Amazing website.
The course will cover best practices in tutoring, tutoring proficiency, business protocol, and pedagogy.
Note: Lunch will not be provided, but there will be food items for sale.
