Is Tyler Perry Moving His Studios from SW Atlanta? Or Just Building a Bigger Complex?
Tyler Perry is believed to have bought a large parcel of land in Douglasville recently.
Rumors have been swirling for days that Tyler Perry or one of his affiliated companies has purchased a huge plot of land west of Six Flags Over Georgia in Douglas County, according to a report in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
When trying to reach Tyler Perry Studios, who has a large facility next to Greenbriar Mall in Southwest Atlanta, we were told by a PR representative that they had, "no information that they could provide." When asked whether or not they deny the reports that Mr. Perry purchased a new property, Cascade Patch was told, "no comment."
So the rumors of whether or not Tyler Perry will be packing up his SW Atlanta facility and moving it even further west, will continue...In my opinion, if Mr. Perry is actually buying the land, he is most likely building more sound-stages and more facilities for the rising demand from the influx of films being shot in Atlanta.
According to the AJC, "the company, ETPC Company LLC, acquired 856 acres about eight miles southwest of Six Flags Over Georgia. The property is just south of Sweetwater Creek State Park and I-20."
ETPC Company LLC shares the same address and suite number of Tyler Perry Studios LLC and Tyler Perry Studios Casting on 10th Street in west Midtown, says the AJC. For this reason, the AJC believes that there is definitely a Tyler Perry connection to the purchased property.
The AJC, like Cascade Patch, has not been able to confirm whether or not Tyler Perry is behind this purchase, nor can we figure out what purpose he may have for the land.
Tyler Perry Studios near Greenbriar Pkwy currently holds 5 sound-stages, a large theater, and a bunch of editing facilities. It has suffered from 2 fires since its opening in 2008, but has been a welcome addition to the Greenbriar community.
Please return to Cascade Patch for updates to the story once more details become available.
Do you think Tyler Perry is saying goodbye to his Southwest Atlanta facilities, to build this new location? Or do you think there is another explanation, tell us in the comments section.

I think he is not moving his current studio, but expanding his operation.

Everything is speculation at this point. Tyler Perry is very private about details of his business as he should be. He could either be investing a new development in Douglas County, expanding his studio, embarking on some other venture and etc. Our best bet is just to wait it out and let Tyler do what he sees fit with his investment. This could be a case of a business colleague sharing an office with Tyler and he has nothing to do with the said project. We shall see.

Mr Tyler Perry is a very private person when doing business so you all need to wait and see what's going to happen instead of trying to guess what Mr Tyler Perry is doing
Just wait and see :)

I don't see them leaving the current location. Maybe the new location will be used as a backlot to build exterior sets. With that amount of land they could recreate whole towns or scenery from any period or location.
