MAVEN educates NPU-T Residents about upcoming Transportation Vote
Southwest Atlanta residents still have questions about the 1% sales tax increase
Metro Atlanta Voter Education Network (MAVEN) visited last weeks NPU-T meeting to briefly talk about the upcoming Transportation Referendum which will be voted upon on July 31st.
Ms. Sherman, the Coalition Coordinator for MAVEN, was able to very clearly and concisely explain what exactly the penny tax was, how long it would last, and how the funds were to be appropriated. Ms. Sherman said, "We don't tell people how to vote, whether it is Yes or No, we just want you to go out and vote."
The residents in the audience have of course heard much of this presentation before, due to there being so much talk about the upcoming Transportation Referendum, but they were very welcome to MAVEN's message and appreciate the issue as they continue to form their opinions on the matter.
One of the questions that continues to come up in Southwest Atlanta when a presentation on this project is discussed, is whether or not minority firms will be given any sort of priority in the bid process for some of the construction work.
A big concern for SW residents is that there be some tangible benefits that we as a community will experience from this tax...Be it new jobs, new contracts, etc....Many residents are still waiting for an answer on that from the politicians.
Please answer our Poll and let us know which way you will vote on July 31st!

With $8.5 billion invested in our transportation there is bound to be job opportunities present. Also with that money being invested in the transportation infrastructure as a region it will be able to benefit the whole metro Atlanta region.

The fact that both our Democrate Mayor and our Republican Governor think the bill is a good thing is enough for me to vote against it, however I am oppossed to another transportation tax for the citizens of Fulton County and even more funds to be wasted and misappropriated by many of our greedy politicians and the friends and lobbiest they support.
