Rev. Gerald Durley Talks About The Murder of Associate Pastor Derek Moses
Durley: There are few leads in the murder of accountant and Providence Missionary Baptist Church Associate Pastor Rev. Derek Moses.
The congregation of Providence Missionary Baptist Church and the greater southwest Atlanta community are still stunned and baffled by the mysterious execution-style murder of Associate Pastor Derek Moses last month at his office of business, Rev. Gerald Durley said recently in an exclusive interview with Cascade Patch.
Moses, a Cascade area accountant, was shot twice in his office on Cascade Road on March 28. His Mercedes Benz was moved by the perpetrators to give the impression that he had left the office. The car was found with the keys in the ignition by a passerby who took the vehicle.
Atlanta Police later ruled out that person as a suspect.
According to Durley, Atlanta Police detectives say the trail is growing cold because of lack of evidence at the murder scene and in the victim's car. So far, no witnesses have come forth to give a description of anyone driving the vehicle.
Members of the church and the community are looking to post a reward for information soon, Durley said.

Joseph,
Your comments are extremely important. Any chance you can rework this (just a bit) and prepare a "Letter to the Editor" that I can post and promote on social media?

Letter to the Editor:
The Cascade area surrounding Providence Baptist Church is one of the worst crime areas in the city. Drug houses, robberies, etc., is a daily occurrence. The murder of Pastor Moses should have brought community protest - the residents seem to have their heads buried in the sand.
The house directly across fromwhere Pastor Moses was murdered was burglarized last year. It is the home of an Atlanta Police Officer. The Fulton County District Attorney's car was burglarized while dining in the Beautiful Restaurant in broad daylight. Actual and attempted robberies occur at the post office on Herrings Road and the Woolfolk Boys & Girls Club has been burglarized twice this year. I read that there is community policing. The only time we see officers is when they are zooming by or eating in the Beautiful Restaurant. The Mayor needs to take care of crime in his neighborhood and quit meddling in school board business.

Hello Mr. Williams, I do understand your frustration, however, instead of finger pointing and placing all policies on our officials we elect and policing on the officers we select, What can WE do to change our community? The NPU-H (Neighborhood Planning Unit- Section H) Safety Committee will be meeting Thursday, June 9, at the ADAMSVILLE RECREATION CENTER @ 6:30. I have d have participated with them in in addressing drug issues of the community. Community participation did shut down a well known drug haven fronting as a convenience store. Also, we led a "Stop the Violence" March in our community.

Ms Minor, my letter to the editor was to express my observation of the crime in my neighborhood. zone 4 preceint is only 4.10 of a mile from the place of PASTOR MOSES death. 7.10 of amile from the center of major crimes commited in the neighborhood. I have the utmost respect for policemen and women.
weeks has passed and not one public official have addressed the the community about the crime in the area. maybe because csacade heights reputation as haven for the supposidly beautiful black people nobody wants to admit crime is a problem. the mayor lives in cascade he should be as concerned more
about cascade crime than trashing the elected school board.
