The KKK wants to adopt a Georgia Highway. How do Black Residents in SW Atlanta Feel?
The KKK has made a formal request to "Adopt a highway in Georgia.
The Department of Transportation has said that they will deny the KKK's application to "Adopt a Highway", even though the KKK said they will take the case to the ACLU if they are denied.
The KKK will argue it is against their First Amendment right to deny them because of their beliefs. Even though the application was denied, or will be according to the Department of Transportation, the KKK will likely make this a big summer issues in an attempt to take it all the way to the Supreme Court.
The "adopt a highway" program allows local civic-minded organizations to take clean-up responsibilities of stretches of highway, in turn for free advertising along that stretch. Meaning, the KKK could then advertise their hate message and try to recruit new members on that public land.

Hotel Scams Ray Lewis Son and Atlanta Grandmother!
Owings Mill Hampton Inn scams Elderly Black Woman for $609 for Night’s Stay
On June 5th Officer K. Triplett of the Baltimore County Police Department responded to a 911 emergency call at the Hampton Inn in Owings Mills, Maryland . Catherine Alphabet, 81, of Atlanta, GA was charged a hefty $609 for less than an six hour stay, then asked to leave the property. “ The hotel manager cleared all the cash from Mrs. Alphabet’s debit card then tried to evict the woman and three children from the hotel. The hotel manager alleged that she was threatened and immediately called the police,” Triplett reported.
In fact Mrs. Alphabet only learned of the scam when her daughter, back home in Atlanta, checked bank debit card records online.
In an attempt to cover up the theft, the hotel night manager promised a free nights stay for the inconvenience but the following morning did not refund Mrs. Alphabet’s money to her account. Mrs. Alphabet was also refused any receipts or documentation regarding the hotel transactions.
Belieiveinthe incident to be racially motivated, the distraught grandmother of seven has contacted the U.S. Attorneys office about possible Civil Rights violations and has pressed charges against the Hampton Inn hotel Manager
Hampton Inn and its franchisees are a subsidiary of the Hilton Hotel Chain.

Gotta love it! The secretary of the chapter (interesting to know they even have elected officers) says they simply want to keep that area clean. Now, does anyone really thinks these clowns really want to perform a civic duty?
They want publicity and the thrill of annoying people by having their name emblazoned on a sign. They have no constitutional right to be accepted into the Adopt a Highway program so I cannot see them claiming their rights have been violated by the DOT. If they go to court and win, the state ought to immediately change the name of the road to something like Racial Equality Highway or some such. Also, although I do not encourage littering, some civic minded folks ought to make sure they always have enough litter to make it worth their while.
Another suggestion would be to assign them a stretch of road in Atlanta instead; say somewhere on the Southwest side of town.
