The Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully, Inc., (C.H.O.I.C.E.S.) will celebrate their 10-year anniversary at their fundraiser, Twilight on
Childhood Obesity, an entertaining evening of humor featuring a performance by Atlanta native and Las Vegas comedian George Wallace. Comedian, actress and writer Myra J will serve as host. It takes place on Friday, October 19 at 7p.m. at the Buckhead Theater, 3110 Roswell Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30305.
"We invite the entire metro Atlanta community to join us in celebrating our 10th anniversary”, said Vanetta Keyes, C.H.O.I.C.E.S. Founder and Executive Director. "We wanted to make Twilight on Childhood Obesity an extra special event this year. We are fortunate that Mr. Wallace has agreed to join us in this journey to end childhood obesity"
Wallace, who has headlined a nightly stand-up comedy show for the past six years at the famous Flamingo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, will be coming home to support this milestone with C.H.O.I.C.E.S., a nonprofit organization formed in 2002 to fight the epidemic of childhood obesity. There are an estimated ten million obese and overweight American kids. Georgia is ranked 3rd in the nation for childhood obesity.
Dubbed "Mr. Las Vegas” by The Las Vegas Review-Journal, Wallace has starred on the House of Payne, Jerry Seinfield and The Parkers television shows, and is now a stand-up comedian that entertains for audiences from all over the world. George routinely performs before packed audiences as the headliner at the Flamingo, and considers doing a show in Atlanta an honor as this is where it all began for him.
"Atlanta is my home," he says. "As a youngster I sold papers on the corner there. I came here (to Las Vegas) for 30 days, 60 days, 90 days and now I’m in my 9th year”, said Wallace who noted he produces, promotes and directs his show as well as writing his jokes and selecting the music.
Tickets are $50 for general admission and $150 for VIP and can be purchased online at www.choicesforkids.org and at the door. In addition to the performance there will be a VIP Reception, After-Party and silent auction. Funds raised will help C.H.O.I.C.E.S. offer after-school programs and open a programming facility in the City of Atlanta.
