Herman Haters Tell a Lot About Us

As of this writing Herman Cain is leading in Iowa polls and Texas polls, to name a few. He also is mishandling a 15-year-old sexual harassment charge—one that he allegedly had 10 days in which to get his messaging right.

But I want to address the vitriol coming from my friends. Now this is not a small number, I am close to 2,000 FB friends and overwhelmingly the large number of them have posted inflammatory words, rehashed opinions and petty whining.

Now I could not for a long time figure out why a group of people who don't vote Republican and who thought Cain did not stand a chance a month ago would react so viciously when he rose in the polls. I am seeing friends who go to church every Sunday (shall I mention that Herman is Associate Pastor at Antioch Baptist Church which is in the hood?), who defended Obama against any and all slights go at Herman for the smallest things like why his wife is not with him on the campaign trail. I see friends who are usually pretty centered politically go after Herman on center type issues like tax reform. I see friends who hammered Occupy Wall Street, when Herman spoke of Occupy these same friends went ballistic.

So what does this tell us about ourselves as a community? Why is a Black man who has done every thing that defines black culture correctly-Morehouse, Church, Family, Business is being disparaged in such a vicious way. I don't want to believe that these things no longer define our great culture instead that-Agnosticism, Rap music, HS education, and single parent households define us now.

It must be opposition to Obama. And if it is then what does this tell us about ourselves? It says that more importantly than doing all the rights things in ones life, one has to say all the right things in our life. For the first time in my life I am witnessing a watch what I say not what I do mentality in a community which was the opposite just decades ago. Consider that Tavis Smiley who has spent an adult lifetime doing for African Amercans and Himself is summarily thrown off radio because he dares question the president. Al Sharpton who has a low rated syndicated show which had not gone past 16 stations for four years, all of sudden is on MSNBC due to his complete bowing down to Barack Obama.

I say this to say that a people who are so tied emotionally and physically to a POLITICAL candidate-Obama- are doomed to be hurt. If you are so invested in Obama that all reason goes out the window-"He is not president of black America so he cannot do specific plans for black people"- but when he is attacked politically, it is because he is Black. It does not stand up to reason. So you are bound to be disappointed. You see politics when played correctly is a dance at a singles bar. Some times you dance with someone who is not the main chase. Sometimes when you are at the singles dance you buy a drink for that one girl who may not be all that pretty but she has a great personality just to make a move on the main chase later. Sometimes, ladies you dance with Mr. well dressed just to get Mr. good looking to notice you on the dance floor.

My point is Mr. Cain has done everything right in his life but yet we blast him because he is not a democrat or he is against Obama. His comment on poor people has been said by every social scientist in the sentence-" Generational Poverty is passed down through bad decisions and bad environment". Or listen to your grandmother when she told you "No one can make your life bad, only you control your future".

His comments on Blacks being brainwashed by democratic party is true. Look at every social conservative issue and ask your friends what they believe and every issue you will find your black friends are on the conservative side. Abortion-no one I know wants to have one, and most families frown on their girls who do. Homosexuality-Ask your parents if you were gay would they love you just the same? Watch them flinch. Illegal Immigration-Ask the brother down the street who he blames for not getting construction work anymore. Prayer in Schools-the most religious people in the country by every poll would love to have prayer in schools. School Choice-nuff said.

So if you feel that Obama is great for your kids to see as president. I suggest you stop shouting down Herman Cain and show them that they can go against the grain if they believe in their hearts they are right. That to not go with the crowd is okay. But also remember this, because many of us just came to politics since Obama became president. There is no primary in the Democratic party. So flood the republican primary with votes for Herman. You can still vote for Obama in the general election. The only bad part is that you will have to stay out of democrat primary in local elections but since symbolism is so important to us as a people then get Herman in general election. What do you care anyway, republicans are racist and would never vote for a black man. Right?

Lets rewind back to 2007 and 2008 for a minute. When people were trashing Barack Obama and saying that he was not qualified, these same people would be quick to call someone racist and demand satisfaction. People took various popular radio show hosts to town on their statements against Barack. Now back to present and the same things are happening to Herman and we are quiet. I forgot, he's a Republican and the evil white people are putting him up to this to get rid of Barack. Herman is not perfect and neither is any other candidate for political office. Everyone has skeletons from their past they would like to forget about. Majority are fortunate that they will unless you have someone out on a witch hunt.

I am surprised that Al Sharpton's terrible radio show keeps getting passes to stay on the air. It goes to show you that radio stations run their stations like the CW runs their television network--terrible. When Radio One first announced the "African American" talk project, we were told by their executives to give it two years to take off. By six months, majority of the stations dropped the programming for other items. One of the original shows (Eric Michael Dyson) was gone and he was ultimately replaced by Warren Ballentine. If you notice, Al's show is on stations that don't garner much ratings anyway. The ones that did dropped the show.

WOW! An amazing thing is happening right before our eyes. In 2012 we may have two black candidates running for the highest office in the land. Can you see it? This has never happened before that we may have a black Democratic candidate and a black Republican candidate, that mean that America has to vote black. LOL… If only my Grand Father could have seen this day. You are right, as for us as a nation of people, A house divided against itself cannot stand. Willie Lynch did his job well "Fear Envy and mis-trust" 300 years later in our hearts and minds most black people still hate our own blackness. We have been told that we are black and ugly; we got bad hair so we fix our hair like the masters hair. We been told that black men are lazy, black men are dead beat dads. It is so sad, that most act out to become what they hear. We are the only people in the world who feel that moving up and showing our success, by moving out of our community to the white folk’s community. We been told that black is evil and not good enough to hold some positions, we been told we can never be nothing for so long that in the hearts of heart many believe everything they were told WHY?, because they were feed this by their elders. But this is not the truth - we are showing the world that we cannot be stop, we cannot be moved. As blacks across the nation hold positions and wealth on all levels of American life we are a powerful people.

The truth shall make you free. Obama proved to be able to do the job and has the worlds respect as a leader. Those that oppose Obama will try anything to overcome Obama. The Tea Party not happy with Republican candidates in a bold power move backed Cain, (it was all fun and games until other states voted for Cain) but many fear that when they wake up and see that they are forcing America to vote for two black candidates, we may see another side of America. I 'm watching closely looking behind the scene; we must see what the Powers To Be are up too next. Obama vs. Cain

SIMPLE OPINIONS & PLANS FROM SIMPLE MINDED MEN

First let me thank you for providing me this layup opportunity to respond to American Black Conservatives (ABC) irrational, misleading to the point of deceitful and insulting black people as a group propaganda, for the sole purpose of political gain.
Shelly, since your comments did not have any actual political policy points or a platform and their technical foundations, I only have to examine your anecdotal and "mindset propaganda" (I can expound on that some other time) to answer why the vast, overwhelming majority of black people distrust Herman " Its Just Sex" Cain. I think any commentator would use facts and logic to substantiate their positions if they truly want to change minds and expand their voting base.
Why? Because IJS and you give cover to racist republicans for their hateful and only veiled racist idelology. How can a man of God (Antioch Baptist Asso. Pastor) suggest to kill immigrants with an electrified fence, blame the neediest people in our society for their poverty? Somehow I think caring for the weak, poor and unfortunate are virtuous character traits any legitimate religion teaches for its community. I wonder what Antioch really thinks about his stated positions being in line with what they preach. Eddie Longs prosperity pimpin cult, I mean church, would better fit his hypocrisy on so many levels.

Black People, we must get past this everyone must be a Democrat or else attitude. Why can't we have a choice when it comes to our candidates? It seems like we are just supposed to trust Black Democrats because they are for "us" and distrust Black Republicans because they work for "them". What happened to variety? I am excited about the thought of two black men running against one another in the campaign. What happens if a woman wins the Republican nomination (no, I am not talking about Sarah Palin before you get antsy)? Is she working for "them" as well?

We are going to have to wake up and realize that Democrat is not Pro-Black. In regards to church, what about when Barack was attending Jeremiah's Wright's hate filled church. It was a church and he had to distance himself in the campaign from his place of worship. How about Cynthia McKinney's father's anti-Jewish comments from years ago? Where was our outrage? Its amazing how black folks love the Democrats when this is the same party that fought against your beloved civil rights and opposed you here in the South. How soon we forget history!

I had another 950 characters from my first blog post that were not allowed because of size and I cant post them even now. They addressed Shelleys other propandga. I wonder if Ms Poe can help?
Ms Huff, You must be an ABC because you over simplify, generalize and fail to have policy arguments on their technical merits. ABC policy is bad for Black people and America as a whole. Most Americans except a lot of disadvantaged whites don't vote against their best economic interests. Stop insulting black people by disparaging them as mindless sheep and also using racist historical positions as evidence of current attitudes. We know what the Repubs are doing to us TODAY!

Emory, where are your stats that back up your claim on most Americans except for disadvantage whites don't vote against their economic interests? If I recall, many people were admitting to vote for Barack because he was black. is being black an economic interest? Last I check, we didn't chose our race and ethnicity, we were born with it. This isn't about being overly simple and generalizing. Everyone speaks in general because no one has the absolute. Everyone's situation is different. I know of several people who are living very well right now in the Cascade area and are not suffering. And yes, they are black and in this economy. Everyone says Barack did not cause this mess but I don't see him coming up with solutions that are practical. Taxing a business that you want to employ people is not a solution. If a business' cost increase guess what they pass that on to the consumer. Less consumers mean less customers. Haven't you noticed how little you can get in a grocery store for $20 today (and I am talking about healthy items). The only one who is insulting black people here is you Emory. You are upset because everyone is not going to get on board with the Democratic agenda. You want to ignore history but it has proven their behavior. Look at the poverty in our cities and look who runs them. Look at our education and look who runs it. Need I say more.

Go head and rejoice irrelevant Civil Rights community and your white liberal friends, Cain has suspended his campaign. But the fight is not over. I know Emory is jumping up and down right now. Keep listening to the white liberals, they really have your interests at heart.
