Cascade is one of the largest and most prominent churches in southwest Atlanta. Established in 1926 in a storefront near Cascade and Beecher, the church grew rapidly under the leadership of influential pastors such as Rev. Walter Kimbrough and legendary civil right leader Rev. Joseph Lowery.

Cascade describes itself as a "Christ-centered church" that seeks to embrace the community and nurture "all generations, with a special emphasis on children and youth."

Cascade has more than 48 ministries organized into four main divisions: Worship, Nurture, The Witness and Outreach. The congregation moved into its current 10-acre location at Cascade Road and Childress Drive in 1994.
