Cascade UMC Distributes Over 900 Thanksgiving Boxes to the Community

Recipients received a week's worth of groceries and Thanksgiving Dinner

Cascade United Methodist Church’s New Advent Choir continued their tradition in the southwest Atlanta community by distributing a week’s worth of groceries as well as Thanksgiving dinner to more than 900 families Monday—up from 600 families in 2012.

“This is our largest outreach project of the year, says Pastor Marvin Moss, Senior Pastor, Cascade United Methodist Church, “the need continues to grow each year, we opened our lines to receive names for this year’s event and reached 900 families in less than two weeks.  These numbers speak to the urgent need in our community.”

The recipients of the Thanksgiving baskets are from the Cascade corridor schools, non-profit organizations; those served through Cascade United Methodist Church ministries, and others within the Atlanta communities who have expressed a need.

The project is funded by the generosity of choir members, Cascade members and the community.  From 10am - 5pm, families gathered at the church to pickup their Thanksgiving boxes.
