Chairman John Eaves Hosts Brazil Day in Fulton County

Chairman Eaves will be hosting “Brazil Day in Fulton County” to commemorate the Memorandum of Understanding between the County and Brazil.  On May 24, 2012, Fulton County Board Chairman John H. Eaves and Bahia, Brazil Governor Jaques Wagner participated in a Signing Ceremony for a formal partnership agreement between the State of Bahia, Brazil and Fulton County, Georgia -- the first such partnership between a foreign state and a Georgia county government.

This historical agreement promotes cooperation and joint initiatives between the two governments.   Fulton County will benefit from a bilateral agreement with the State of Bahia in five areas: Economic Development and Tourism; Public Health; Youth Development and Education; Arts and Culture, and Promotion of Justice, Citizenship and Human Rights.

Fulton joins the State of Georgia in pursuing development opportunities with Brazil.   Currently, there are 35 Georgia-based companies with operations in Brazil and 40 Brazilian companies operating in Georgia.  In all, Brazilian-affiliated companies have invested $7.2 billion in Georgia and employ nearly 6,300 Georgians.   This agreement will help Fulton County Government and the state of Bahia, Brazil to continue developing jobs, trade and tourism for both governments on behalf of their citizens.
