Atlanta's Caring For Others Participates in Nationwide Toy Giveaway August 1

Atlanta-based human services agency Caring For Others will reach more than 2,880 children when it helps celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Toy Bank by participating in Toys Across America, a simultaneous distribution of toys and games to kids in need in all 50 states. The Atlanta event will be held on Thursday, August 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Caring For Others.

The Toy Bank is a signature program of the Toy Industry Foundation (TIF), the philanthropic organization representing the entire North American toy industry. More than 10 million deserving children in the U.S. and around the world have received toys from The Toy Bank since it was formed a decade ago … that’s millions of smiles on the faces of millions of kids!

Working together with TIF and Kids in Distressed Situations, the Toy Bank’s distribution partner, Caring For Others and local charities across the country joined together for the 10th anniversary celebration and toy distribution.

“The Toy Industry Foundation’s year-round mission is to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to play,” said Jean Butler, executive director of the TIF. “But what’s so incredible – so inspiring – about Toys Across America is that it has provided us with a unique occasion to give the empowering gift of play to thousands of children on a single day.”

“Caring For Others is thrilled to be part of the Toy Bank’s celebration,” said Eslene Richmond-Shockley, President and CEO.  “Because of the generosity of the toy industry and TIF, we have been able to provide toys to children in our community who may not always have access to the things that many of us take for granted.”

The Toy Bank relies upon the generosity of the toy companies that have donated more than 10 million toys worth more than $80 million during the past decade, and the network of charities that get toys directly into the hands of children who truly need them.
