Camp Creek Business Association, Atlanta Police to look into business watch for corridor

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SW ATLANTA-The Camp Creek Business Association in collaboration with the South Fulton Community Organizers is launching business watches along the Camp Creek corridor.  With the corridor having four police agencies, this will be an unique undertaking.  On Saturday, the Atlanta Police Department will present a public safety seminar and training for the Atlanta businesses of the corridor.

The Business Watch Training presented by the Atlanta Police Department Crime Prevention Unit will cover personal safety, 911 tips, basic crime prevention through environmental design and how to start a business watch.  The event lasts from 9am to 1pm.  Lunch will be provided and the training takes place at 3755 Carmia Drive Atlanta inside the former Beauty Masters space.

“The businesses along Camp Creek Parkway have expressed a concern about safety along the corridor.  A watchful community is a safe community so we want the businesses to start being more alert and sharing information,” Dominique Huff, President of CCBA said.  “We are working on similar programs for the businesses in Unincorporated Fulton County, College Park and East Point who share jurisdiction on the corridor.”

The event is produced by the Community Relations committee, which is chaired by Waymon Harley. CCBA and APD are opening the event up to the surrounding business community in Atlanta in the Greenbriar and Campbellton Road corridors.  In addition, neighborhood groups located within the Atlanta city limits are encouraged to participate as well.

“Crime knows no boundaries so we wanted to have empowerment and training for both our business and residential community,” Harley said.  “This event is the first of many things that CCBA will provide for the business community along the corridor.”

For registration, businesses and residents are encouraged to contact Inspector Thomas of the APD at 404-546-5550 or sabthomas@atlantaga.gov
