ATLANTA --------The Peoples' Agenda Town Hall and Public Hearing is one of the culminating events of the Atlanta Global Freedom Exposition presented by the King Center, in cooperation with the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site. Joined by other local and national entities for the common cause of a resounding unifying theme: “Freedom-Make it Happen.” The Exposition is slated for a full day of international engagement activities highlighting the Dream, 50 years later and honoring the journey to the Dream Speech. The public is invited to—Make it Happen!
The Peoples' Agenda is a voter empowerment coalition comprised of representatives of civil and human rights, social, criminal, and environmental justice, labor, women, youth and education organizations to advocate, educate, and mobilize for effective activism. The Agenda facilitates, town halls, forums, training and movement action to guide accountable governance. Weekly voter empowerment meetings are where change happens with concerned citizens and leaders. Most recently, an issue brought forth at an empowerment meeting garnered the support of member organizations and resulted in a teenager finally being placed on the list for a heart transplant that he was originally denied by a Doctor on appearance and other qualitative criteria. Chaplains of the common good make it happen guided by the iconic convenor, Dr. Joseph E. Lowery.
