Four Atlanta Tech Students Designated as State Officers

Cremeithius Riggins, a paralegal studies student at ATC, was elected president of the Statewide Student Leadership Council (SSLC), whereas Terence Whitehead, an ATC business management student, was named as the group’s parliamentarian. The SSLC represents local student government associations and/or local student leadership councils in the Technical College System of Georgia. The purpose of SSLC is to promote student involvement in technical colleges through sharing of information on how to organize student government associations, increase local memberships, implement effective fund raising practices, and improve student engagement.

ATC business management student Ahmad Johnson was named a state officer for the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). As the president of the ATC chapter of NTHS, Johnson will now serve as a reporter/historian for the state. The purpose of the NTHS is to honor excellence in workforce education. Johnson and his fellow state officers will guide local chapters in promoting critical workplace values, such as skill development, honesty, service, leadership, citizenship, and individual responsibility. Communicating the message of career readiness, the state officers will also serve as ambassadors for technical education.

Enrico Mason is pursuing a degree in hotel, restaurant, and tourism management at ATC. He became actively involved in Collegiate DECA two semesters ago and has been selected to serve as a state officer for the organization. Mason earned the position of reporter/historian and will help chronicle the activities of the organization. Collegiate DECA aims to prepare students for careers by integrating classroom-learned skills into real-world experiences. Collegiate DECA students major in a variety of academic programs with a strong focus on business-related fields, such as marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.

These outstanding young men will help develop educational co-curricular activities for students in their respective organizations and will travel to events across the state to share the message of technical education.
