Zion Hill Observes Outreach Ministry Sunday

Zion Hill Baptist Church (ZHBCATL) will observe Outreach Ministry Sunday, March 18, 2012 with two worship experiences themed Reaching Out in Christian Love and Service.   Become encouraged to get involved in Outreach through a message led by Rev. Melanie L. Conner, Director of the Zion Hill Community Development Center Corporation that assists homeless women with their transition back to stable housing and employment, during the 8:00 a.m. service, then stay for the 10:30 a.m. service to hear Dr. Ralph Basui Watkins, Associate Professor of Evangelism and Church Growth, Columbia Theological
Seminary, Decatur, Georgia provide a biblical and historical perspective on the church’s legacy of love and service to humankind.  Zion Hill is located at 6175 Campbellton
Road, SW.

The annual Outreach Ministry Sunday is but a reminder of the ongoing church initiative to serve.  ZHBC leaders and members electively serve in one or more of the forty plus existing outreach ministries that under gird the
congregational motto “Living to Love and Loving to Serve” and the biblical directive to those professing the Christian faith; to reach out to the poor, the brokenhearted, those held captive, the blind, and wounded.

Pastor Aaron L. Parker continues to lead the congregation with a broadening vision of reaching beyond the church walls. It began with services to metro Atlanta; aid to youth,
the elderly, providing comfort for persons who are sick and bereaved, food for the homeless and much more.  In 2002,
ZHBC created a new phase of outreach ministry, the Zion Hill Community Development Corporation (ZHCDC), a faith-based organization for women and children who have experienced homelessness. Zion Hill extended its local focus to include international missions by providing assistance to hurricane victims in Jamaica and Haiti, to people being aided by Community Uplift & Ministries, to children of the World Vision in Africa and to the World Food Programme’s (WFP) relief efforts in The Horn of Africa.
