Weekend Events for Cascade Patchers.

Events honoring National Fitness Month and celebrating African-American art are happening around the city this weekend. Below are three events appropriate and fun for children.

ALIVE! EXPO:

SPECIFICS: One of the largest annual events bringing together consumers and vendors specializing in natural, organic, and environmentally friendly products. Naturopathic and alternative practitioners and chiropractors will be on hand to answer questions and share the latest developments in alternative medicine. Healthy food samples, vitamins and supplements are available as well. Cooking demonstrations, interactive fitness programs, Yoga and Pilates demonstrations, a fun kids corner, and food and wine tastings are sure to provide fun and excitement for the whole family. There will be LOTS and LOTS of wonderful samples!

FAMILY FITNESS CHALLENGE:

WHEN: Saturday, May 21; 10:30am-2:30pm

WHERE: Might Jumps Party and Play Center, 1019B Collier Road, Atlanta, GA 30318

SPECIFICS: Fun family fitness activities in commemoration of National Fitness Month aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles. Participants can jump rope, hula hoop, complete obstacle courses, and work out with a professional trainer.

COST: Parents free and $8.99 for children

I LOST MY TOOTH IN AFRICA:

WHEN: Saturday, May 21; 1pm – 3pm

WHERE: Atlanta Fulton County Library, Central Branch, One Margret Mitchell Square, Atlanta, GA 30303

SPECIFICS: The National Black Arts Festival presents a children's book party based on the book I Lost My Tooth In Africa by Penda Diakite. Penda will be on hand to introduce the book and answer any questions. Children can enjoy storytelling and interactive experiences. The first 50 children to arrive will receive a free copy of the book.
