Hundreds Gather at West End Park for 'No Justice for Trayvon Martin' Rally

Over 100 people gathered and marched from West End Park on Sunday, July 14th.

Peaceful demonstrations in support of Trayvon Martin's family and in response to the 'Not Guilty' verdict handed down to George Zimmerman, continued in Southwest Atlanta on Sunday as hundreds gathered at West End Park and marched through the streets.

The crowd chanted, "No Justice, No Peace," and other civil rights march songs as they peacefully marched through the streets of West Atlanta.

Exclusive photos from the rally are available at the following link.

In general the participants in the rally were, "fired up," over the 6 person jury decision and felt real fear and exasperation with the justice system.  One woman cried as she spoke while holding her child in her arms, " is there is no where safe for my boy anymore," she pleaded.

One of the hopes of Sunday's march is that the U.S. Justice Department sees it fit to take up a civil rights case against George Zimmerman, possibly claiming that Trayvon's rights were violated when he was profiled and shot by Zimmerman.

The first local official statement in regards to the George Zimmerman trial came from Mayor Kasim Reed who said, ""The genuine tragedy of the Trayvon Martin case is that a mother and father lost their son senselessly. I find it troubling that a 17-year-old cannot walk to a corner store for candy without putting his life in danger. I find it more troubling that a citizen could not see a young African-American youth without immediately concluding that he was up to no good.  While I disagree with the jury's verdict, we must respect it." -Read the Full Statement-
