Invest Atlanta, the official economic development authority for the City of Atlanta, has been promoting the city as the go-to spot for entrepreneurs and innovators.

Now, a new campaign called Choose ATL looks to help cement Atlanta’s place as the nation’s digital hub. The campaign, launched last fall, tells Atlanta’s untold story as well as showcases why it’s a great place to live, grow, share ideas and build the world’s best organizations.

Influencers from Atlanta’s leading businesses, professional organizations, start-ups and local government came together to bring this concept to life. The campaign’s centerpiece is the Choose ATL website

The site includes an inspirational video and now Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has contributed his own video.

See in the attached video why Reed says others should Choose ATL.

The campaign is being funded by in-kind contributions from several groups, including the digital marketing firm Nebo Agency, Atlanta Tech Village, and Startup Atlanta, and companies such as Clear Channel, Turner Broadcasting and Home Depot.

As a recruiter for a Seattle based tech company, what I can tell you that these leaders don't seem to get is that tech companies sprout on the west coast and other more welcoming places for a reason. It's not by chance that SF and Seattle are the real tech hubs of this country. Their cultures welcome people outside of the narrow confines of a conservative base. Xenophobic places like GA will always scare those potential startups and workers away. Tech workers do not generally like conformity or restrictive environments. They are thinkers that are actively engaged and deconstructing the status quo in their work. GA is 100% pro status quo. do the math. Keep dreaming Kasim.
