Mt. Gilead and Dunwoody UMC Team Up to Build 2 Habitat for Humanity Homes in SW

Volunteers from Dunwoody United Methodist Church joined forces with volunteers from 22 other United Methodist churches, including Mt. Gilead UMC to break ground on two Atlanta Habitat for Humanity Homes in southwest Atlanta.

For Dunwoody UMC, this will be there 21st and 22nd Atlanta Habitat for Humanity builds. Nearly a year ago, Cascade Patch took pictures at another Habitat build location off of Westlake Avenue. 

The construction of these latest 2 properties is expected to continue for consecutive Saturdays, ending with dedications of the houses on May 18.

The address of the build site is not being shared, but both of the homes are in the Venetian Hills / Pamona Park area and here is a brief description of the home occupants:

1. Two young sisters are the home-buyers, and they’re eager to start their financial future on the right foot. One of them has a newborn son.
2. A close-knit mother and son are the home-buyers. They look forward to gaining stability and giving family members their own rooms.

This year Dunwoody UMC will be joined by members of other Methodist churches in the Atlanta Roswell District: Bethelview UMC, Birmingham UMC, Chamblee First UMC, Christ UMC, Hickory Flat UMC, Johns Creek UMC, Midway UMC, Mt. Carmel UMC, Mt. Gilead UMC, Mt. Pisgah UMC, North Forsyth UMC, North Springs UMC, Northbrook UMC, Orange UMC, Roswell UMC, Sandy Springs UMC, Sardis UMC, Shiloh Canton UMC, Shiloh Cumming UMC, Simpsonwood UMC, St. James UMC and Winters Chapel UMC.
