Providence Missionary Baptist Church's Fall Revival Continues This Week

Providence Missionary Baptist Church has begun to celebrate its 142nd Anniversary this month with a host of events and activities open to the community.

“God has blessed us with an exciting month of events leading up to the 142nd Anniversary of our historic church,” Pastor Damon P. Williams said.   “Since our theme focuses on Christian community, we are looking forward to engaging our youth and our neighbors of the Beecher Hills – Cascade community.”

Activities began last Friday with the “Welcome Home” lock-in to kick off the Providence Youth Ministry. The lock-in invites youths ages 5-16 years for games, activities, a sleepover and a Saturday grand finale at Metro Games and Fitness Complex on Metropolitan Parkway. Parents are asked to supply sleeping bags and pillows for participating youth.

On October 12, “Providence at the Corner” took evangelism out of the Sanctuary and into the community.   Participants joined a prayer team and group with ministers for a prayer walk throughout the neighborhood.

Revival services begin October 16, at 7 p.m. promptly with Rev. Dr. Eyvonne Whitman of First A.M.E. Church of Atlanta, and continue with Father Charles Fischer III of St. Paul’s Episcopal on Thursday, October 17, and climax with Rev. Dr. Aaron L. Parker of Zion Hill Baptist Church on Friday, October 18.   “This year we are bringing in a denominationally diverse group of powerhouse preachers to revive us in our work of building Christian communities,” Pastor Williams said.
