5th Annual Camp Allegro Band & Orchestra Camp

 Camp Allegro Offers Dynamic Program for Aspiring & Experienced Musicians

Extended Day, Expanded Curriculum Offered & Scholarships Available for June Camp

ATLANTA –May 30th, 2012    Camp Allegro, a day camp for band and orchestra students, is keying up for the fifth edition of its music camp.  Fulton County and Atlanta metro area elementary, middle and high school music students who want to tune up their musical skills over the summer can now register.  New this year are classes in singing and keyboarding along with instruction in world drumming, music theory and jazz improvisation.

Camp Allegro will host two sessions from 8:00am to 4:30pm at the S. Fulton Instructional Technology Center, (the old Westlake High School) 2370 Union Road SW, Atlanta, GA  30331.  Students will need their own instruments & music stands.  Limited instrument rentals are available from Camp Allegro or at Jackson’s Music stores.  Both Camp Allegro sessions will conclude with the students performing a finale concert.   Registration has been extended until Friday, May 25th.   Contact Camp Director Leon Daughrity at director@campallegro.net or 404-434-4440 or log on to www.CampAllegro.net. 

Session One: “Develop & Discover Your Musical Skills,” June 11th through June 15th for beginning band and orchestra students in grades 3 through 5.  Beginning students will receive instruction on his/her primary instrument equivalent to 10 plus weeks of classroom instruction.   Registration fees for beginners are $150 and include snacks and Camp Allegro T-shirt.   Camp Allegro is offering discounts and scholarships as incentives for high achieving beginning students who receive free and reduced lunch.  Scholarship deadline is also May 25th.

 “Strengthen & Stretch Your Musical Skills” for intermediate and advanced band & orchestra students in grades 6 to 12.  In addition to studying his/her principal instrument, middle and high school students will receive instruction in music theory and ear training, audition preparation and jazz improvisation.  Registration fees for middle and high school students are  $225.00.

Camp Allegro is under the direction of Mr. Leon Daughrity, a veteran music teacher and chair of the South County Band Department of Fulton County Schools.
