Artist Lecture - Faith Ringgold: More Than 60 Years of Making Art

Acclaimed artist Faith Ringgold will participate in a special lecture to discuss the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art exhibition, “American People, Black Light: Faith Ringgold’s Paintings of the 1960s,” as well as her 60-year career as a visual artist. The lecture will also delve into Ringgold’s vibrant story quilts that celebrate the people and places from her Harlem childhood, her travels, children's books, and her influential political paintings of the 1960s.

The event is held in partnership with the NBAF (presenters of the National Black Arts Festival), Spelman College department of art and art history, and the Spelman College Women’s Research and Resource Center.

Free and open to the public, the event (to be held in the Spelman College Cosby Auditorium) will be followed by a book signing and reception.
