The seventh annual Decatur Book Festival features more than 300 authors, a writer's conference, teen and children's activities including two parades, a silent auction, cooking demonstrations, and a street fair with vendors, food, beer, wine and much more.

On Friday, Aug 31st at Agnes Scott College’s Presser Hall the festival will hold it's first ever Kidnote with Jose-Luis Orozco, author of Rin Rin Rin, Do Re Me.  The Kidnote will be a singing and dancing event where children will not only sing along with Jose-Luis Orozco (in Spanish and English), but have the chance to meet the author.  The whole family will  love singing, clapping, dancing and laughing during this free event that is open to the public.

The keynote address will be given by Emory professor, Natasha Trethway, U.S. Poet Laureate 2012-13 on August 31 at 8:00pm at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. Tickets for this event are sold out.

Saturday at 9:30am starting at the DeKalb County Courthouse (556 N. McDonough Street) a children's parade will take off lead by chidlren's book author Kevin Henkes along with his heroine, Lilly.  And on Sunday beginning at 11:30am at the same location author Nick Bruel will lead another children's parade with his star, Bad Kitty.

From 12:00pm-6:00pm on Sunday take the opportunity to  listen to local musicians at the Acoustic Music Stage located on West Court Square.
