Get Out! Your Memorial Day Weekend Plans Are Here

It's Memorial Day Weekend. Of course, there's the Atlanta Jazz Festival but we've rounded up other great activities for southwest Atlantans this weekend.

1) Old Sckool @ Pearl Bistro:

Where/when: The Pearl Bistro and Bar, 2841 Greenbriar Parkway, 5 pm to 3 am

The Event: Old Sckool Saturdays at the Pearl of Southwest Atlanta. Come and feel the exciting atmosphere of the Pearl Bistro and Bar as DJ Derek Harper from Majic 107.5 mix it up Old School. Here you can dine on seafood and American cuisine, be entertained, socialize and watch videos or sport (NBA Playoffs) on jumbo TVs.  If you like to party and just hang out, love good food or have a nice drink or just like having fun, the Pearl is the place to be.

Where/When: Auburn Avenue Research Library, 1st floor, 101 Auburn Ave., Friday & Saturday, Noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Event: Auburn Avenue Research Library shares with the citizens of Atlanta a part of their collection turned exhibit called: “One Woman’s Dream: The Unfolding Legacy of Evelyn Frazier.” This exhibit is a jewel that recognizes Atlanta’s own remarkable daughter who was a successful businesswoman and owner of Frazier Café Society. The One Woman’s Dream exhibit will focus on her business, civic, educational and political awareness and contributions, which included: National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, the NAACP, Morris Brown College and the Republican Party. This interactive exhibit would not be possible without the donated Evelyn J Frazier’s Papers. Though the Library is not within our patch, the exhibit should touch us all, so come out and see this exhibit and see the Legacy of Evelyn Frazier and her imprint on Atlanta.

Price: Free and Open to the public. Please visit www.afpls.org/aarl for more information or contact Morris Gardner at 404-730-4001 ext. 303

3) Family Day @ Centennial:

Now this Saturday, take your family to OUR downtown park and enjoy a day of fun in the sun. If you have children, have them to expend their energy through the rings of water, or in many of the children’s activities.
