“Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution” won the coveted CNN Outstanding Documentary Award at the 2012 Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival on Saturday, August 11, 2012. The highly-anticipated new fashion documentary by first-time director Deborah Riley Draper, will hold an exclusive premiere screening in Atlanta, Georgia at the glamorous Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
About the Film:
“Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution” follows the events leading up to the iconic fashion battle at the Chateau de Versailles on November 28, 1973 between American and French designers, where Black models proved to be the deciding factor and ended up turning the fashion world on its head.
After Atlanta, the acclaimed documentary will premiere at a special screening on September 6th during New York Fashion Week, followed by a limited engagement at IFC Cinemas, September 7-13, 2012 in New York City.
