NBAF Presents 'Da Kink in My Hair' Staged Reading on Friday 8/16

'Da Kink in my Hair gives voice to eight black women who tell their unforgettable stories.

The 25th annual National Black Arts Festival in association with The Balzer Theater presents a staged reading of "Da Kink in My Hair" on August 16th at 7 p.m. at the Balzer Theater. 

Andrea Frye directs this work by writer Trey Anthony. Set in a Caribbean hair salon in Toronto, ‘da Kink in my Hair gives voice to eight black women who tell their unforgettable stories in a kaleidoscope of drumming, singing and dance.

According to production notes, the play, "is a testament to the challenges and triumphs in the lives of contemporary black women, many of who are immigrants to North America from the Caribbean."

Some of the celebrities linked to be in attendance on Friday include, Melanie Fiona, Angie Stone, and Terry Vaughn.
