Teen Sci-fi author from Fayetteville recognized as Science Fiction Author of the Year

Teen Author Stone Erickson has been nominated by the prestigious African American Literary Awards Show for his first novel “Black Angel” as Science Fiction Author of the Year. The 15-year-old has received rave reviews for his novel and countless recognition for his efforts to combat youth literacy especially in the young black male community.

Stone resides in Fayetteville, GA and attends Fayette High.  He is also a JV soccer player and member of the debate team.

“It’s amazing to me that I am nominated for an African American Literary Award. It’s a honor to be even considered,” says Stone Erickson.  “Having my book published was a dream come true for me and I hope this inspires other people to follow their dreams and never give up.”  

The African American Literary Awards Show recognizes, honors, celebrates and promotes excellence within African American literature each year. The Science Fiction Author of The Year category applauds those who display the best imaginative stories in the genre. The 9th Annual African American Awards Show will be held on September 26, 2013 at Landmark on the Park in New York City.

Stone Erickson is one of the youngest published authors in the country. He wrote his first full length novel at twelve and was offered a publishing deal with Delphine Publications by fourteen. Stone Erickson has visited local Boys and Girls Clubs in his hometown, traveled to New Orleans for the Bayou Soul Writers and Readers Conference, appeared on New Orleans WWLTV’s Morning Show, and participated in summer reading programs to discuss “Black Angel’ and encourage other kids to read and write. Fans of “Black Angel” can look forward to the second novel of the series during the 2013 holiday season.
