Perkerson Park Welcomes a Brand-New Splash Pad this Weekend

The Atlanta Beltline unveils Perkerson Park's new Splash Pad on Saturday.

Atlanta BeltLine officials, this time with the help of Atlanta City Councilmember Joyce M. Sheperd, open another city park splash pad for children to play in during the hot summers.  which is a, "50-acre greenspace nestled in the residential neighborhood of Capitol View." will celebrate this grand opening for its splash pad with hundreds or residents, city officials, jazz music, and games for kids on Saturday afternoon.

Funding for the splash pad came from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation through the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs.

“Perkerson Park is another jewel on the Emerald Necklace that is the ,” said Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation President Penelope McPhee. “We are proud to be a part of this project that promotes community, improves health and well-being and makes Atlanta a more livable city.”

Two other splash pads built recently by Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. are located in the newly renovated in D.H. Stanton Park and the year-old Historic Fourth Ward Park.

The splash pad features the artwork of Maria Artemis in a series of granite boulders that form a fountain and double as seating. In-ground spray elements are designed for three age groups: young children, four to seven years old, and eight years and up.

The park currently includes a recreation center, tennis courts, basketballs courts, a playground, ball fields, a pavilion, and a temporary disc golf course. Additional amenities include walking paths, open fields, a stream, and a tract of woods.

Perkerson Park is located at 770 Deckner Avenue, Atlanta, 30310. Free parking is available along Deckner Avenue and in a parking lot next to the playground.
