C.T. Martin of District 10 to hold Public Meeting on the new Family Dollar Store coming to Cascade

A Public Meeting will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Questions still are prevalent about the that is being built on Cascade Road, and whether or not it is needed and wanted.

Councilman C.T. Martin's office (District 10) said that they will be having a public meeting on about the new business and peoples concerns at 6:30 p.m., at the .

The Family Dollar at Benjamin E. Mays and Cascade Rd. has already put up the brick veneer, and continues to grow and grow.

A Cascade Patch reader said:

It is over-sized for the neighboring businesses of Cascade Heights Village and that very crowded intersection will not support the traffic it may bring! We already have CVS, several mom & pop convenience stores...and a Family Dollar on Cascade Ave in addition to the large grocery stores/drugstores by 285. Why is this needed?

Many residents have voiced similar opinions that there are already a number of similar businesses in the area, and that this new store is not needed.  Please continue to weigh-in on this matter.

What can be done to get the type of stores that we want in the area?

It might be too late to do anything about that one, but I believe i saw a sign indicating that ANOTHER one is being built where they have cleared the land at Fairburn Rd and Benjamin Mays DR. As a person who lives in the area and has never even been inside a FD, I am amazed there is enough of a demand to have so many of these in such close proximity, but I suppose they wouldn't build them if there wasn't.

I was surprised to see the sign of the FD coming. I thought the original plans for the Cascade Heights area was a new apartment bldg and the looks of the Virginia Highlands area. I am wondering why so many FD as well. There is another one coming on the corner or Mays Dr and Fairburn, 4 miles down the road. I do have a concern about the restructing of the streets and the extended corners in making turns onto Mays Dr from Cascade, along with the art work that I am sure eventually someone is going the top that corner and tear that piece of art work down. Just please remember to put the trees back.

Cut and pasted from the AJC on 8/15/2012. This is what we have to look forward to. . "Atlanta police were investigating a double shooting that left one person critically wounded Tuesday night outside a Family Dollar store on the city's northwest side".
