Many southwest Atlanta seniors have recently received discount vouchers to purchase fresh vegetables and fruits via Georgia’s “Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program“(SFMNP). Georgia produce growers, who are eligible to participate in the  program, deliver their goods to  the Darnell facility, as well as to the Quality Living Services Center (QLS) where participants can buy fresh produce right off the truck.

Seniors ages 60 or older can participate, but they must have registered to receive the vouchers. For eligibility and program information, seniors can call the Darnell Facility, QLS, or the statewide toll free number for Georgia seniors at 1-866-552-4464 or Georgia WIC, 1-888-814-5468.

The Georgia Department of Human Resources Division received  federal funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to fund the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
