Edgewood Corner Tavern Flunks Restaurant Inspection

Shane's Rib Shack scores an '80,' in this week's look at recent East Atlanta Patch restaurant inspection scores.

The Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness gave the Edgewood Corner Tavern a 65 — essentially, an "F" — in its most recent inspection.

The Old Fourth Ward restaurant, which was inspected Nov. 26, was cited for 13 violations including:

  • Person in charge present, demonstrates knowledge, and performs duties
  • Proper eating, tasting, drinking, or tobacco use

Here are other recent health inspection reports and scores performed by the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness, as well as the DeKalb County Board of Health:

Park Grounds — Reynoldstown
142 Flat Shoals Avenue
Date: 11/8/12
Score: 91

Shane’s Rib Shack — Edgewood
1221 Caroline Street
Date: 11/13/12
Score: 80

Waffle House — East Lake
2914 Memorial Drive
Date: 11/13/12
Score: 92

(A food service establishment that is graded as a “U” and does not earn at least a grade “C” within 10 days of receiving the “U” will be requested to voluntarily close until all violations are corrected and/or have enforcement action taken to suspend or revoke the food service permit.)

This person who has been posting restaurant health scores really sucks! There are so many restaurants in this town and it appears as though he/she is selectively posting only certain restaurants failing health scores. It does not help the individual businesses to go public on social media. Health scores are already open to the public through many different outlets (health dept web site, ind. restaurants, etc..). What is really pissing me off is that this person also does not repost the targeted restaurant new health score after the violations have been corrected with in 10 days as directed by the health department. Way to go asshole! ,way to support local business in the atlanta area. You should be a bit less in everyone elses business and try to understand that the new health codes have been a struggle for all restaurants in the area, not just the ones youve been targeting.
