High Tea Wednesday at Harriett G. Darnell Senior Center

For those interested in enjoying  a "spot of tea" with others,  they can  go to the Darnell Center this Wednesday afternoon.

The public is  invited  to  participate in what is billed  as "High Tea and a Lemon Squeeze." The custom of having a cup of tea is thought to have originated in England (via Portugal).

It has become customary in England and in some hotels and aboard  ships to have afternoon tea with small sandwiches, cakes, and cookies. At Darnell, there will be tea, punch, cookies and sandwiches along with ladies sporting fancy hats and dresses.
