Our First Year: Patrons of J.R. Crickets Camp Creek Shocked by Popular Tavern's Closing

With the college and NFL football seasons approaching, customers of the popular J.R. Crickets on Camp Creek Parkway are surprised of the tavern's closing this past week.

Editor's Note: Cascade Patch was informed that the Tavern was only closed for renovations and opened back up on September 9th, and is still open to this day

On the heels of the Tavern at J.R. Crickets in Lithia Springs closing, so has the Atlanta sports bar chain's prime location on Camp Creek Parkway—as of this past Monday, Aug. 8.

For the regulars who frequent the popular Camp Creek location, this is a surprise.

Tanesha, who says she always went there on Tuesday’s Crab Night, said she was preparing to head over to her favorite spot when a friend told her Crickets had closed.

“I can’t believe this," said Tanesha, who like others interviewed for this story declined to give their last name, "it must be for some violation.”

Another regular named Dre just shook his head when he heard the news. A friend named Ranita waved a hand and said “where’s the new hang out spot?”

To answer her question is easy, if JR. Crickets is still your flavor then come on down Cascade Road and come to the new , formally JR Crickets on Cascade.

Another local Cricket's location is the Tavern on Old National and then right down the street from the Camp Creek location the , at Camp Creek Parkway and Campbellton Road.

At the time of this writing the Tavern on Old National appears to be on solid ground and the Crickets Lounge, where Mayor Reed is known to visit, is fitting nicely into the Cascade Heights community.

I myself have frequent the Camp Creek location and the reason for the closing is definitely not lack of business because the place was always packed on the weekend.

With the fever of fall football upon us, more business was on the way. The chain's website, The Tavern at Crickets, mentions nothing about it being closed.

So, stay tuned to Cascade Patch for more news on whether J.R. Crickets Tavern on Camp Creek has permanently closed its doors.
