Earlier this week,  Channel 2 WSB-TV and The Trust for Public Land (TPL), announced the finalists for Atlanta’s fourth annual Cox Conserves Heroes program. We are pleased to learn that Sister Deborah Williams of R.E.D.E.E.M Community Outreach has been selected as one of three finalists.

As a finalist, Sister Deborah has  secured a $2,500 donation for her nonprofit, R.E.D.E.E.M Community Outreach, and is now competing for an additional $7,500 – bringing the total donation on behalf of the winner to $10,000.

DeBorah Williams helps youth understand food growth, environmental conservation and self-sufficiency. By creating a community garden, she turned a drug-infested eyesore into a gathering place of growth and inspiration. One community garden turned into several, and she is now teaching youth and seniors alike the importance of gardening. Her nonprofit of choice is R.E.D.E.E.M Community Outreach.

The winner will be chosen through an online public vote running through October 29. To vote, visit http://www.wsbtv.com/coxconservesheroes.  Atlanta’s Cox Conserves Hero will be announced on November 15.
