Ashview Heights Residents Want Solutions to Stop Neighborhood Prostitution

One woman is even known to walk the streets in the nude

Ashview Heights residents have been sending both Mayor Reed and Councilwoman Cleta Winslow letters, first requesting and now demanding that something be done to curb the illegal prostitution happening right out in the open.

According to multiple homeowners, prostitutes can be seen at all times of the night "working" the Ashby Grove corridor.  The latest evidence, sent to Cascade Patch, was from Friday, January 24th in which a resident photographed a "customer" and a prostitute sitting in a car in-front of her house and subsequently being arrested by police officers.

One particular woman has been seen on multiple occasions walking up and down the street completely nude, approaching passing cars at night.

In a letter to Councilwoman Cleta Winslow a resident wrote:
While walking my dog this evening, I also had the pleasure of witnessing one of many prostitutes asking a black male "what do you need?" I have called 911 to report the solicitation that I witness from my porch.  This is very disheartening because my girls and I usually walk the dog together but this evening I decided to do it without them because of the weather.
Boy, I am so glad they did not have to witness this while doing something that should be safe to do in their own front yard.
Safe outdoors activities in our own yard is what we are fighting for in Ashview Heights.  I'm tired of worrying about what my girls will see if we open our door and go outside after dark.

I truly look forward to working with you, my neighbors, our police and fire department in moving Ashview Heights back to a positive and up-lifting community.

Cleta Winslow has since scheduled an Emergency Neighborhood Meeting to address the issues.  The meeting will be tonight, Tuesday, January 28th at 6pm at the Washington Park Library along with Zone 1 Narcotics Division, Vice Division and Fire Department.

What Suggestions Do You Have for Police and Lawmakers to Curb the Illegal Prostitution Activity from the Ashview Heights neighborhood?
