I Love My SSU in Malawi!!!!!

Here is my letter to my Atlanta family regarding my upcoming trip to Malawi!!!

Greetings Family and Friends,

Vera Nazarian says, “Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light.” I understand that children need to receive this light no matter where they are or what types of resources they have. My book I Love My SSU! has been a light for many children in the US, and now I would like for it to be a light for children in Lilongwe, Malawi. Through the Auburn University College of Education’s Destination Malawi education program, I will be traveling to Malawi from May 24- June16, 2013. During this time, I will serve the children of the Mtendere Village as a teacher, after-school athletic facilitator, and most importantly a friend. The Mtendere Village, established by the 100x Development Foundation,  provides a home and a family environment that many of its orphans and vulnerable children have never experienced.  I would like to extend that family expression by sharing I Love My SSU! with the village.

With your help I will be able to extend the reach of not only Auburn University and Savannah State University, but also strengthen and expand the aspirations of hope that will develop in the lives of the children.  Your tax-deductible donation will cover the cost of the books and insure the books are properly transported and delivered to the children in Malawi. Your donations will also contribute to the “We Are Rising” (tentative name) Scholarship I plan to establish at Savannah State University for its students. The scholarship is targeted at students with grade point averages that range from 2.0-2.99; a group of students frequently ineligible for most available scholarships.
