Arrest made in the Slaying of Jared Billings on New Year's Day

Jared Billings, just 18 years of age, was gunned down outside his Oakland City home on New Year's Day and became the first murder victim of 2013 in the City of Atlanta.

According to Atlanta Police Public Affairs Officer, Kim Jones, "on 01/09/13, the Fugitive Unit picked up Ronnie Clay, Jr., B/M, 09/17/74, on a warrant for homicide."  Mr. Clay was transported to Fulton County Jail to await trial.

Witnesses indicated that the victim had been in an argument with another male outside of his home on Epworth St. on New Years when the other male pulled and gun and shot him in the chest.  Mr. Billings was transported to Grady Hospital, where he later died.
