Atlanta Police to use Radar on Barge Road between Campbellton and Fairburn

Police tell residents that they plan to cut down on the speeding.

According to CBS' Pothole Harry, the Atlanta Police Department is going to step up patrols and the use of radar on Barge Road.

Barge Road has for many years been a convenient "cut-thru" for drivers wanting to go from Campbellton Rd. to Fairburn Rd. and vice-versa.  The residential neighborhood is zoned for 30 mph traffic, but drivers often reach speeds of 50 mph and above.

Residents have become fed up, and have asked their councilpersons to see about adding a traffic light, speed bumps, police officers, or some sort of measures that will "calm the traffic."

The Zone 4 spokesperson said that in the meantime, the APD will use radar more at that location and make sure drivers know that they are there and that the correct speed limit is 30 mph.
